How the calculator builds your program

It doesn't use a fixed “industry” percentage. It starts from your gross margin, because a program a 40%-margin business absorbs easily can eat a large share of the margin of one with 8%.

Cost comes from your margin

The program's target cost is 15% of your gross margin, with a floor of 1.5% and a ceiling of 4% of your sales. With a low margin, the program comes out more conservative.

First reward in about 75 days

Stamps or points are tuned to your monthly visits so a regular customer reaches their first reward in about 75 days: not so fast they don't value it, not so slow they forget. For stamps, the result stays between 6 and 20.

Not everything gets redeemed

It assumes a quarter of stamps or points are never redeemed, a conservative estimate for small businesses. That lets you offer a more attractive reward without raising the real cost.

Which program type it recommends

More visits with an average ticket under 300: stamps. Higher spend per visit: points. Rewarding your best customers, or a ticket over 500: tiers. Anything else: points. In your full plan you see all three to compare.

Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers

If you pick tiers, Silver is reached in about 3 months and Gold in about 9, with 1.5x and 2x point multipliers and a tier-up coupon valid for 45 days.

Coupons from the same numbers

It also suggests a welcome coupon and a birthday coupon, valid for 30 days each, and a 15-day reactivation coupon for customers who stopped coming. Their amounts scale to your target cost.

The cost traffic light

Green if the program uses up to 15% of your gross margin, yellow between 15% and 25%, and red above 25%. In the red, review it with our team before launching.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator cost anything?

No, it's free. To see your full plan we ask for your name, your business name, your email and your phone; you don't need to create an account or enter a card.

Can I use the result in Xtarly?

Yes. If you create your account with the same email, your program starts with the type you calculated and, if it's stamps, with the number of stamps; you fine-tune the reward and coupons inside.

I already designed my card. Do I have to sign up again?

No. If you designed it in this same browser, we recognize you and you go straight through.

Does the calculator tell me how much more I'll sell?

It shows you a scenario with the data you enter, labeled as an estimate. How many customers really come back is measured by your dashboard once the program is running.

What if my margin is very low?

The program comes out more conservative: smaller rewards, or rewards that take more visits. If the light is still red, the program would cost more than your margin comfortably absorbs.

Where do the 75 days and the unredeemed quarter come from?

They are our own design criteria for small businesses, not an average of Xtarly customers. We'll refine them as we gather real data.
