Validate Coupons
How cashiers validate and redeem customer coupons in the Xtarly Cashier app.
The Coupon screen lets cashiers validate one-time discount coupons that customers present at checkout.
Steps
- Tap Coupon on the main cashier screen.
- Scan the customer's coupon QR code (or enter the coupon code manually).
- The app shows the coupon details: discount type, value, and validity.
- Tap Validate Coupon.
- The coupon is marked as used. Apply the discount manually at your POS.
Free item and size upgrade coupons
On top of the discount, the app shows a delivery instruction whenever the coupon isn't a figure:
- Free Item — "Give the reward item at no charge"; if the coupon is linked to menu products, it names them ("Give for free: Latte, Cappuccino or Americano"). Past three products it shows a count instead.
- Size Upgrade — "Charge the next size down and serve the one they asked for". That is one step, not the smallest size on the menu. The discount box reads "Size upgrade" instead of an amount.
It is the same instruction you get when redeeming a reward: the cashier's action is identical whether it comes from a reward or from a coupon.
Coupons for inactive customers
Coupons the business restricts to inactive customers come with a 24-hour grace window: they stay valid if the customer qualified as inactive at any point in the last day. If you rang up the purchase before scanning the coupon, the coupon is still accepted.
Xtarly validates the coupon but does not apply the discount to your POS system automatically. You must enter the discount manually.
