Scan QR

How to use the QR scanner in Xtarly Cashier to look up a customer.

The Scan screen is the starting point for most cashier transactions. Scanning the customer's QR code retrieves their account and presents options for earning, redeeming, or coupon validation.

How to scan

  1. Tap the Scan tab or button on the home screen.
  2. Point the camera at the customer's QR code (shown in their Xtarly Rewards app).
  3. The app reads the code automatically — no button press needed.
  4. The customer's profile appears: name, current balance, and available actions.

After scanning

From the customer profile you can:

  • Earn — register a purchase and award points or stamps.
  • Redeem — process a reward the customer wants to claim.
  • View history — see this customer's recent transactions.

Troubleshooting

If the scanner doesn't read the code:

  • Ask the customer to increase their screen brightness.
  • Move to better lighting.
  • Use Manual Lookup to find the customer by phone number instead.
