Connect your AI assistant (Claude)

Connect Claude to your Xtarly Rewards account to set up your loyalty program and rewards by chatting.

You can connect your AI assistant to your Xtarly Rewards account and set up your loyalty program by chatting: ask "I want 8 stamps and a free coffee when the card is full" and the assistant prepares it, shows you what will change and, once you confirm, applies it.

Today it works with Claude (claude.ai on web, desktop and mobile). Later on, any MCP-compatible assistant that uses OAuth will be able to connect.

Connector URL: https://api.xtarly.com/api/mcp

Requirements

  • Be an owner or admin of the business in Xtarly. Other roles can't reconfigure the program.
  • Have a Claude account (claude.ai). The Free plan allows 1 custom connector.
  • Your Xtarly account must be in good standing: a past-due or canceled account can't reconfigure the program.

How to connect it

Add the connector in Claude

Free, Pro and Max plans:

  1. In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Paste the URL https://api.xtarly.com/api/mcp.
  4. Click Add.

Team and Enterprise plans: an organization Owner adds the connector in Organization settings → Connectors with the same URL. Then each member clicks Connect to link their own Xtarly account.

Sign in to Xtarly

When you connect, Claude opens the Xtarly sign-in. Use the account you manage your business with.

Review and grant permissions

Xtarly shows you a permissions screen explaining what the assistant will be able to do. Click Allow to finish, or Deny if you don't want to connect it.

Start chatting

Back in Claude, ask for what you need. Depending on how you have Claude set up, it will also ask for your approval on each action.

When Xtarly adds new features to the assistant, you'll need to disconnect and reconnect the connector to see them (see "Troubleshooting" below).

What the assistant can do

ActionDetails
See your businessesLists the businesses you have access to.
See your programType (points, stamps or tiers), points per peso, required stamps, expirations and anti-fraud caps; also your tiers and rewards.
See your menu and your branchesFor rewards tied to a product or a branch: the assistant takes the products and branches the reward applies to from there. It only reads them, it doesn't change them.
See how your business is doingTotals per period (7 days, 30 days, 90 days or 12 months): new and active customers, transactions and amount, points or stamps issued and redemptions per reward, also per branch. It never shows customers one by one.
Preview a changeTells you what changes and how many customers with a balance it affects, without applying anything.
Configure the programAsks for confirmation. Changing the program type requires double confirmation.
Configure tiersCreates or adjusts your program's tiers.
Create rewardsThey're created inactive and are published in a separate step the assistant must ask you for, because publishing a reward notifies your customers who have notifications turned on and, if you have automatic news turned on, also through WhatsApp and email.
Edit, activate and delete rewardsDeleting asks for confirmation.

To learn how each setting works, see Loyalty program and Rewards.

What it can NOT do

The assistant works with your program settings and rewards, and reads —without changing them— your menu, your branches and your business's overall metrics. It can't see or touch:

  • your end customers' data (names, phone numbers, emails, individual balances);
  • individual transactions or redemptions (it only sees totals per period);
  • coupons (it only sees how many were redeemed);
  • campaigns;
  • changes to your menu or branches (it only reads them);
  • payments or billing.

Tip: before confirming any change, ask "show me what's going to change first". The assistant shows you the effect (including how many customers with a balance it affects) and you decide.

Example requests

  • "Set up my program with 8 stamps and a free coffee when the card is full."
  • "I want points: 1 point for every $10, expiring after 12 months."
  • "Create three rewards: free dessert at 5 stamps, a drink at 8 and 20% off at 10, but don't publish them yet."
  • "How is my program set up today?"

How to revoke access

Access lasts until you revoke it. You have two ways:

  • From Xtarly: go to Account settings → Security → Connected AI assistants and click Revoke.
  • From Claude: remove the connector in your connector settings.

Security and privacy

  • It acts with your account and your permissions. The assistant can't do anything you can't do; only the business's owners and admins can reconfigure, and a past-due or canceled account can't.
  • Everything is logged. Every change appears in the business's activity log (Settings → Activity) marked as made by the assistant, so you know what was done from the conversation.
  • Review before you approve. The tools for sensitive changes (changing the program type, publishing or deleting rewards) require the assistant to confirm explicitly and are designed so it asks you first. Depending on how you have Claude set up, it will also ask for your approval on each action. If something didn't turn out as you wanted, you can see it in Activity.
  • What data goes to the assistant's provider: your name, email and profile photo, and the business information it reads: your program configuration (tiers and rewards), your menu, your branches with their address, and overall metrics per period (how many customers, transactions and redemptions, with total and average amounts). Not your customers' personal data.

Troubleshooting

Message or symptomWhat it meansWhat to do
"We couldn't confirm which site we'll send you back to"Xtarly couldn't verify where the connection returns to.Continue only if you started the connection from Claude. Otherwise, close the window.
"The request expired"The connection request lasts 10 minutes and that time passed.Connect again from Claude.
"insufficient scope"The connection doesn't have the permissions the action needs.Reconnect the connector from Claude and grant the permissions.
The assistant doesn't have a new tool we announcedClaude saves the list of tools when you connect and doesn't update it on its own.Disconnect and reconnect the connector in Customize → Connectors (Xtarly Rewards → Disconnect → Connect); it will ask for your permission again. Opening a new chat sometimes does the trick.

Limits of this first version

  • It only works with Claude.ai (web, desktop and mobile). Claude Code with a local port isn't supported yet.
  • A "free product" reward can be linked to menu products only if those products already exist.
